There was a good turnout on Monday 2nd April for the first preview evening of the season, despite the awful weather – our best ever. Patrick Boyd’s unique artistic vision in holographic form looked stunning in the new gallery arrangement. The spotlights creating pools of light on each piece. There was a lot of scrutinising, people moving their heads from side to side and up and down to see the movement within a single image. Patrick gave a short talk about his process. He said everyone always wants to know how they are made, but he isn’t focused on the science of the process, it is just a medium for him to express the ideas that he has as an artist.
Below is a selection of photos and video clips to give a flavour of the evening (click on any image to open up the light box and scroll through a slide show of larger versions). Thanks as always to the musicians who provided a background ambience early in the evening and then shifted into the folk music performance later on.
Bernard Barnes launched the gallery fundraising initiative. An investment of £5 gives the chance of winning one of his original oil paintings of Barmouth. The first draw will be at the next preview evening on Monday 30th April.
If you weren’t able to come to the preview evening, please do come along and have a look at the exhibition, which will be on display until Saturday 28th April. You won’t see anything like it elsewhere.
